WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN CONSIDERING A PUPPY
If you are interested in adopting a Thai Ridgeback puppy, here is an overview of our process—from your initial inquiry to bringing your puppy home.
1. Express Your Interest We’re excited that you’re interested in welcoming a Thai Ridgeback into your family! You can reach out to us via call, text, email, or by submitting an inquiry or Puppy Application on our website. Note: If email is your preferred method of communication, please check your spam or junk folder for our responses
2. Let's Chat Once we receive your inquiry, we’ll schedule a time to talk about your interest in the breed, answer questions you have about the breed, and explain our breeding program. During this conversation, we’ll get to know a little about you, your family (including children or other pets), and a snip it about your lifestyle—whether you’re an active outdoor enthusiast or prefer relaxing at home. This information allows us to thoughtfully pair you with a puppy whose temperament and disposition harmonize with your family’s lifestyle, ensuring a seamless transition and a lasting, joyful companionship.
3. Complete the Puppy Application If you haven’t already submitted a Puppy Application, it will be required before moving forward. While many of these details may have been discussed during our call, the application helps us stay organized as we work with multiple prospective families
4. Join Our Waiting List To join our official Waiting List, a $100 deposit is required. This amount is applied toward the total cost of your puppy—it is not an additional fee. We accept Venmo, Zelle, and Western Union (Canada only). See our QR codes at the bottom of this page. To avoid transaction fees (e.g., 2% via Venmo) please be sure to add us a your friend. If you choose to not add us as a friend, please be sure to cover all fees.
5. When Puppies Are Born Once a litter is confirmed, we’ll notify you via text with updates and the anticipated arrival date. After the puppies are born, we’ll follow up with a phone call to share details about the litter, including the number of puppies, their genders, colors, and coat types (velvet or standard). During this call, you’ll also have the opportunity to provide any updates to your lifestyle profile, which helps us identify the best puppy match for your family. To reserve a puppy from that litter, a $400 Reservation Deposit is required within 24 hours of confirmation. Like your initial deposit, this amount will be applied to the total cost of your puppy and secures your place for selection. If you’d like to send something with your scent—such as a T-shirt, pillowcase, or small blanket—now is a great time to mail it to us. This helps your puppy get used to your scent before coming home, making their transition a little easier and more comforting. Please note: items will not be returned once all puppies have gone to their new homes.
6. Puppy Updates Each puppy is given a unique color collar for easy identification. We post weekly photos and videos on Facebook and Instagram so you can watch them grow and play. Around five weeks of age, be sure to check out the puppies in their Puppy Play Pen—it’s always fun to see them explore and play on the agility equipment! Be sure to follow us—you’ll likely fall in love with more than one (we always do!).
7. Puppy Selection At approximately 49 days old (6–7 weeks), each puppy undergoes temperament testing to help us determine the best match for each family. Using information from your application, our ongoing conversations, and your stated preferences, we’ll contact families on our Waiting List in order. If multiple puppies are identified as a great fit, you’ll have up to 24 hours to make your selection. This process moves quickly, as other families are waiting for their opportunity to choose. To help with your decision, revisit our Facebook and Instagram pages—look for your puppy’s unique collar color in the videos and photos to get a better sense of their personality and play style. Virtual meetings via FaceTime or Video Messenger can be arranged during this stage to help you make your decision. Additionally, your puppy may be ready to go home with you as early as the following week (8 weeks old).
8. Reserving Your Puppy Once you’ve chosen your puppy, your remaining balance is due immediately to officially reserve him or her—no exceptions. Because each puppy may be a match for more than one family, timely payment secures your selection. After payment is received, we’ll send your Puppy Agreement via email for review and signature. Please return the signed agreement before your puppy leaves our kennel. At this time, you should also finalize travel arrangements, whether you’re planning an in-person pick-up, using a nanny transport service, or coordinating other travel options.
9. Total Cost of a Puppy The total cost of a Trogers Thai Ridgeback puppy is $3,000, outlined as follows: $100 – Waiting List Deposit $400 – Reservation Deposit (after puppies are born) $2,500 – Final Balance (due at puppy selection) Your puppy will go home with a 5 lb. bag of Fromm Puppy Food—perfect for maintaining their current diet while you replenish or for easing their digestive transition to a new food.
