WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN ADOPTING A PUPPY
If you are interested in adopting a Thai Ridgeback puppy, here is an overview of our process—from your initial inquiry to bringing your puppy home.
1. Express Your Interest Reach out to us via call, text, email, or our website (through an inquiry or Puppy Application) to let us know about your interest in a puppy. Note: If email is your preferred method of communication, please check your spam/junk folder for our replies.
2. Let’s Chat We will schedule a time to talk about your interest in this breed. During this conversation, we will get to know you, your family (e.g., young children, other pets in the home), and your lifestyle (e.g., active, outdoor enthusiast, or a fan of relaxing indoors). This helps us understand your needs and ensures we match you with a puppy that complements your family dynamics and lifestyle, fostering a lifelong companionship.
3. Complete the Puppy Application If you have not already completed our Puppy Application on the website, this will be required before moving forward. Although we may have discussed some of this information during our call, this application helps us keep everything organized as we work with many potential adopters.
4. Join Our Waiting List To join our “Waiting List,” there is a $100 deposit, which will be applied to the cost of your puppy. This is not an additional fee. We accept Venmo, Zelle, and Western Union (please see Venmo and Zelle QR codes below). Be sure to cover any transaction fees (e.g., 2% via Venmo).
5. When Puppies Are Born We will notify you via text once a litter is confirmed and provide updates as their arrival date approaches. After the puppies are born, we will reach out via text to confirm your interest in reserving a puppy from the litter. At this time, we will also confirm that nothing in your lifestyle has changed per your Puppy Application and since our last conversation. If you confirm your interest, a $400 “Reservation” deposit is required within 7 days. This deposit, like the Waiting List deposit, will be applied to the cost of your puppy and helps us update the Waiting List order as we move forward. If you choose to reserve a puppy, we encourage you to send us a small piece of fabric with your scent on it. This fabric will be introduced to the puppies. This process can ease their transition to your home, so they can recognize your scent when you bring your pup home. Additionally, we will send the same piece of fabric back with the puppy, now carrying the scent of their littermates, providing a familiar and comforting smell during the adjustment period.
6. Puppy Updates Each puppy will receive a colored collar for identification. We will post weekly photos and videos on Facebook and Instagram so you can watch them grow and play. Be sure to follow us—you’ll likely fall in love with more than one puppy (just like we do)!
7. Puppy Selection At 49 days old, we temperament test the puppies to match them with the best families based on our conversations and your preferences. We then use the Waiting List to guide the selection process. Each family has 48 hours to choose their puppy if more than one is identified as a good fit. This is a quick process because your puppy may be ready to go home with you as early as the following week (at 8 weeks old).
8. Reserving Your Puppy Once you’ve selected your puppy, we will email you our Puppy Agreement to review, sign, and return via email. At this stage, the remaining balance of $2,500 is due within 48 hours. This allows us to schedule your puppy’s final vet check-up and prepare for transport. You should also finalize your puppy’s travel arrangements at this time, whether you plan to visit our kennel, use a nanny transport service, or arrange air travel.
9. Total Cost of a Puppy The total cost for a Trogers Thai Ridgeback puppy is $3,000, broken down as follows: $100 – Waiting List deposit $400 – Reservation deposit $2,500 – Final balance due You are welcome to make weekly payments using either QR Codes below before the final balance is due. All puppies must be paid in full at least 72 hours prior to leaving our kennel.
